Getting to Mistletoe Winery

Hunter Valley - now so much closer to Sydney?

Not really. It is just going to be much quicker and  safer to travel to the Hunter Valley on the new Hunter Expressway which was opened on 22nd March 2014.

This brand new 4 lane express way, to be named the M15, is 40 kilometres in length and connects the M1 motorway (formerly F3) to the New England Highway.

Previously known as  Highway 82, the New England Highway from the junction of the M15 will in future be known as the A15.

The  M15 will cut over 20 minutes off the trip from Sydney to Wine Country.

From the start of the F3 Freeway at Wahroonga head North towards Newcastle for approximately one hour and 15 minutes and take the  the Newcastle Link Road exit to the M15 which is also signposted for Hunter Valley Vineyards.

The best way to get to  Hunter Wine Country will be to stay on the M15 until it meets the New England Highway and then travel approximately 3 kms. to turn left into Hermitage Road.

Hermitage Road is the most picturesque and scenic entrance into Hunter Valley Wine Country and also the least congested.

Hermitage Road and surrounds are located in the Singleton Shire where the local roads are significantly better maintained than those nearer and surrounding Cessnock.

Do yourself, and your vehicle a favour, and try it on your next visit to the Hunter.

You will also pass through some lovely scenic bush on this totally new road.
